Your Opportunity
We are now looking for multiple Pediatric & General Occupational Therapists to join us on either a full-time or part-time basis in Nhulunbuy, Northern Territory. You will be primarily responsible for regular outreach trips to remote communities supporting individuals in achieving a lifestyle of their choice by providing contemporary OT therapy services that maximise independence and participation.
Your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments of patients with a focus on understanding the unique cultural, physical, and emotional needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Maintaining detailed and accurate records of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress with consideration of cultural sensitivities
- Providing occupational therapy services, including exercises, activities, and interventions, tailored to meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients
- Utilising culturally appropriate therapeutic techniques to support patients in improving or regaining their abilities
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams including GP's, Physiotherapists and other Allied Health Professionals to deliver integrated care that respects the cultural context of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients
- Participating in case conferences and team meetings to discuss patient progress and adapt treatment plans as needed
- Being flexible with your approach and willing to take on diverse tasks as part of the healthcare team
What You Need
The successful candidate will require current AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) registration along with prior experience working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people within a remote or regional community. The successful candidate will also require scope skills in Pediatrics regardless of if you are applying for the Pediatric or Generalist role. NDIS experience will be highly regarded.
